Every fall, the local ACI Chapter awards a number of scholarships to Masters and Ph.D. students during its annual seminar “Progress in the field of concrete.”
The goal of these scholarships is to advance applied research in the field of concrete in order to promote its use and improve its performance.
Eligibility requirements :
Evaluation criteria for the scholarships :
Note 1 : Among the selected awardees, the one with the highest score in the Sustainable Development criteria will be awarded a scholarship with this distinction.
Note 2 : Student recipients of a scholarship must be present or mention their absence by designating a representative to receive the award during the PIC.
- In case of absence at the event, communicate the name of the replacement to the following address
- If no replacement is present at the event, the prize will be awarded to another candidate (the next in line of evaluated candidates)

The ACC and ACI Quebec and Eastern Ontario Chapter wanted to acknowledge the contribution of Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges for the successful use of large-scale experimental concrete mixes with which cracking and durability parameters were well controlled during the reconstruction of pillars 2E and 2W of the Champlain Bridge. |

He has also held significant roles such as the technical director of ABQ and president of the ACI local chapter, contributing to major projects like the REM and Hôpital Vaudreuil-Soulanges. |

Michel Lessard, ing. M.Sc.A. Michel has, among other things, greatly contributed to the transfer of knowledge between research, suppliers, and project owners. This has helped the industry accept several technologies such as self-compacting concrete, anti-washout concrete, concrete with shrinkage-compensating admixture, and the use of synthetic fibers in designing concrete slabs. |

The 2020 Recognition Award was given to Benoit Fournier. Ing., Ph.D, professor in the department of geology and geological engineering at Laval University and expert, in particular, in the expansive reaction of aggregates in concrete (iron sulphides in aggregates and alkali-aggregate reaction). The award was presented to him for all his efforts and hard work over the past 30 years in the concrete industry, locally, nationally and internationally. He has, and is still very involved in international standards committees, but especially national (CSA). Thank you Benoit for all these accomplishments in concrete science! |
